BASIC FUNCTION:

As part of the North American logistics team, provide analysis, technical support, and carrier communications to maintain transportation structures, systems, and ongoing freight services for Gerdau Long Steel North America. Responsible for assisting with the negotiation of proposals, establishing and verifying shipping procedures, and analyzing shipping data in order to look for opportunities and identify market trends. Assists in the development of policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure high-quality, low cost shipping opportunities. This position will assist regional logistics managers in soliciting quotes and maintaining rate and freight tracking systems. May serve as a conduit to mill logistics managers, fulfillment, dispatch, and warehouse teams. This position reports to one of the corporate regional logistics managers.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's Degree in a related field from an accredited college or university preferred, combined with 2-4 years of experience in a logistics-related field or equivalent.

  • LA IIs should have a fundamental knowledge of Freight concepts, practices and procedures and a strong analytical and mathematical aptitude.
  • Ability to adapt to varied situations, circumstances, and personalities
  • Ability to analyze data sets, assess trends or patterns and make recommendations based on data (quantitative) and situational factors (qualitative).
  • Must be able to simplify data to arrive at main conclusions, key presentation and discussion points.
  • Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills.
  • General experience with the use of logistics systems/relational data bases and query/report development.
  • MS office proficiency and Advanced Excel skills required.
  • Ability to interpret functional and vendor specifications.
  • Must be able to assist and support ongoing logistics projects.
